OK Auto Search

How we write our guides

OK Auto Search Guides are written for people buying and selling vehicles in the Okanagan. Here’s how we make sure they’re right.

Official sources first

Every rule, rate, fee and date comes from the body that sets it: ICBC, the BC Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transportation, BC Registries, the Vehicle Sales Authority of BC, Transport Canada and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. We read the official page, link it under each guide, and note what other sites commonly get wrong.

Local, specific, and our own data

We write for the Okanagan: its highways, its towns and the vehicles people actually buy here. Where a guide shows inventory counts or prices, they come live from listings on OK Auto Search.

Kept current

Each guide shows when it was last updated. We re-check the facts every quarter, and sooner when a rule changes (for example when the province revises its PST bulletin, or each fall before winter tire season). We only change the date when the content changes.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help research and draft. Every fact is checked against its official source, and every guide is reviewed and edited before it’s published.

Not legal or tax advice

Guides explain the rules in plain English. For decisions with real money at stake, check the linked official source or ask a professional.
